You're at work and wearing a black dress and somebody suggests that you go out for a cocktail after work. How can you make this an easy transition?
Yes the known formula is:-
Add some jewellery - some Bling or Colour.
Change the shoes to a higher heel and add a POP of a different colour.
Leave the big bag in your locker and add a clutch.
If it's cold, change the blazer or suit jacket to a shorter fitted jacket.
You need a touch of personal difference. The Judith Leiber Evening Clutch is gorgeous but maybe it's more than we want to spend.
How can I create a different look?
Make an individual statement with one of your accessories.
One of the well known classical Timmy Woods designs you will all remember is the famous Eiffel Tower crystal studded purse that Carrie wore in Sex in the City 1. It was also available without the crystals. An interesting design is her red lips evening clutch or there are more quirky designs such as the pink poodle. Maybe you'd like to start with a plain shape and give it an individual beaded or fringe design. Glomesh is still in fashion as well as vintage pieces. Check out the new Verite clutch in the Oroton range, Mimco's evening clutches or the huge range at Saks. My favourite is a small, round, hard silver metal, evening bag which is embossed with butterflies that I purchased from Saks which can be worn as a clutch or with the shoulder chain. Have fun looking for your pieces and why not look through magazines on line for some fresh ideas. Pick a style you like and try to find something similar in style with the right price tag. Next time you get asked out for cocktails, the answer will be a confident "Yes" because you'll be prepared to go out straight from work.
